The Tennessee State University women's basketball team will play the final game of its three-game home stand on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 5:30 p.m. in the Gentry Center. The Lady Tigers will look to remain undefeated on their home court when they host Missouri Valley Conference member Southern Illinois.
THE LADY TIGERS AT A GLANCE
Tennessee State (2-2) is coming off a dominating 78-48 victory over Cumberland University on Saturday night in the Gentry Center. After dropping the first two road games of the season, TSU has won two straight contests.
As a team, TSU is averaging 66.2 points per outing while shooting 39.8 percent from the field and 29.9 percent from beyond the arc. TSU is currently shooting only 48.1 percent from the free-throw line while committing an average of 17.3 turnovers per game.
LAST TIME OUT
Tennessee State won its second straight and remained undefeated at home by defeating Cumberland University 78-48 Saturday night in the Gentry Center. TSU used a 20-4 run in the first half to take a 30-28 lead at the break. The Lady Tigers opened up the lead in the second frame and lead by as many as 33 before cruising to the win. Jasmin Shuler led TSU with 20 points while Tayla Foster (13) and Kesi Hess (12) also posted double-digits.
Southern Illinois (1-2) is coming off a 76-54 win over Chicago State on Sunday. Five players posted double figures led by Brooke LeMar's 15 points. Carteesha Macklin added 13 while Charnise Mitchell and Antishia Wright had 12. Teri Oliver notched 10. The Salukis had dropped 22-straight, including a 76-70 loss to Austin Peay, before snapping the skid on Sunday.
TSU vs. SOUTHERN ILLINOIS
Saturday will mark only the 4th meeting between the two programs as Southern Illinois holds a slight, 2-1, lead over Tennessee State. TSU claimed the last meeting against SIU 57-43 at SIU Arena. TSU got off to a slow start and fell behind, 8-2, before a three-pointer from Jasmin Shuler sparked a 10-0 run that led to TSU leading 33-17 lead at halftime. Stafford led TSU with 13 points while Hess added 12.
Jasmin Shuler is leading the Lady Tigers in scoring with 18.3 points per game while Tayla Foster (9.0 ppg) and Destiney Gaston (8.3 ppg) round out the top three scorers for TSU. Gaston (5.3) and Hudson (5.0) are the team's leading rebounders.

The Lady Tigers will hit the road to participate in the Hoops for Cure basketball tournament hosted by Southern Methodist in Dallas, Texas. TSU will face Fresno State on Friday at 4 p.m. before taking on Cal State Fullerton or SMU on Saturday.
