Jasmin Shuler named to 2012 All-OVC second team

Tennessee State University's Jasmin Shuler was named to the 2012 Ohio Valley Conference All-OVC second team, in a vote by the league head coaches and sports information directors.

Shuler, a 5-8 guard on the women's basketball team, led the team in scoring while ranking in the top five in the OVC for most of the season. She is currently in the top 10 in three statistical categories, including scoring, made three-point field goals and field-goal percentage.

A native of Clarksville, Tennessee, Shuler averages 15.3 points and 3.1 rebounds per game for the Lady Tigers. She is second on the team in steals and has knocked down 71 three-pointers on the season.

She was named the adidas® OVC Player of the Week on Tuesday, Jan. 24 after helping TSU go 1-1 in Ohio Valley Conference action the previous week. She averaged 30 points per game and shot 50 percent from the field.

She exploded for a career-high 38 points on 14-of-23 shooting, including 5-of-9 from three-point range in an, 86-80, overtime win against Morehead State. She also tallied five rebounds, four assists and two steals in the victory.

Against Eastern Illinois, she led the Lady Tigers with 22 points on 9-of-17 shooting. She knocked down three triples and registered four rebounds in the game.

This season Shuler has scored in double figures in all but six games while posting six 20+ point scoring performances. She is also ranked among OVC active career leaders in three-pointers made.

The award marks Shuler's first post-season honor.
