Nashville --- In the only exhibition contest of the season, the Tennessee State University women's basketball team will host Bluefield College on Tuesday, Nov. 9 in the Gentry Center.
Last season, Tennessee State defeated Bluefield College, 75-50 in the season opening exhibition contest.
Despite committing 28 turnovers in the contest, TSU outscored Bluefield College 45-28 in the second half and dominated the battle of the boards 56-32.
TSU shot nearly 41 percent from the field (25-of-62) and 25 percent from beyond the arc (4-of-16) while shooting 65.6 percent (21-of-32) from the free-throw line.
Simone Hopes recorded a double-double for TSU with 18 points and 10 rebounds on 8-of-11 shooting. Avery Jones chipped in 12 points and was a perfect 3-of-3 from the floor while connecting on 6-of-6 from the charity stripe.
The Lady Tigers will face Bluefield College (Nov.9) before officially kicking-off the 2010-11 season on the road at SEC member Alabama on Friday, Nov.12.
TSU vs. Bluefield College tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Gentry Center.
