The Tennessee State University women's basketball team returns to action on Thursday with an OVC contest against Jacksonville State. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in the Gentry Center.
LADY TIGER REVIEW
The Lady Tigers have dropped three straight and are most recently coming off a disappointing, 60-45, loss to Austin Peay at home.
Against the Lady Govs, Freshman Tayla Foster recorded her first career double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
TSU BY THE NUMBERS
Tennessee State is shooting .351 from the field while averaging 55.5 points per game. TSU allows opponents to average 66.1 ppg and a .396 shooting percentage. The Lady Tigers are only connecting on 28.0 percent of their three-point attempts but knock down 72.5 percent from the free-throw line. TSU is averaging 10.9 assists, 20.9 turnovers, 7.3 steals and 2.4 blocks per game.
ABOUT JACKSONVILLE STATE (6-12, 3-4 OVC)
Jacksonville State averages 61.7 points per game and shoots .371 from the field. The Gamecocks are led in scoring by Brittany Wiley's 15.2 points per game. Danielle Vaughn ranks sixth in the league and leads the team with 7.2 rpg.
JSU picked up two OVC road wins at Eastern Kentucky (72-65) and Morehead (81-80 OT) before falling to Murray State (66-80) and UT Martin (67-74) at home.
Defensively, the Gamecocks are allowing opponents to shoot 43.9 percent from the field and score 70.0 ppg.
JSU is shooting 62.1 percent from the free-throw line and averages 17.8 turnovers per game.
Tennessee State and Jacksonville State will meet for the 18th time with the Gamecocks holding on to a 17-10 lead.
Last season, JSU won both games of the series. The Gamecocks defeated TSU 82-75 in overtime at Pete Mathews Coliseum before the Lady Tigers fell to JSU, 67-65, in the Gentry Center.

LADY TIGER LEADERS
Lone senior Meredith Stafford is the only Lady Tiger averaging double-digits with 11.1 ppg. Freshman Tayla Foster (8.8 ppg) is the team's second leading scorer while Alana Morris (5.4 rpg) and Simone Hopes (5.2 rpg) lead the team in rebounding.
TSU will conclude its three-game homestand with a match-up against Tennessee Tech on Saturday, Jan. 22. Game time is slated for 5:30 p.m. in the Gentry Center.
