The Tennessee State University women's basketball team will officially begin the 2010-11 season this Friday when the Lady Tigers match-up against SEC member Alabama. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Coleman Coliseum.

The Lady Tigers defeated Bluefield College, 76-49, in the only exhibition game of the season Tuesday night.
Sophomore Jasmin Shuler came off the bench to lead TSU with 20 points while senior Meredith Stafford tallied 18 points and six assists. Sophomore Destiney Gaston and freshman Tayla Foster added 10 points apiece while Alana Morris pulled down a game-high nine rebounds to go with six assists.
Tennessee State finished the game shooting 45.6 percent from the field, including 41.2 percent from beyond the arc (7-of-17). The Lady Tigers had 24 assists and committed 18 turnovers.
About the Opponent
The Alabama Crimson Tide defeated Alabama-Huntsville, 103-58 last week in the team's only exhibition contest of the season. Six players posted double-figures led by Tierney Jenkins' 15 points and nine rebounds.
Head coach of the Crimson Tide, Wendall Hudson, is in his second year. The Tide finished the 2009-10 season 12-17 overall with a 4-12 conference mark.
In six games, Tennessee State has yet to pick up a win against Alabama. Friday will mark the 7th meeting between the two programs as The Crimson Tide hold a 6-0 series advantage over the Lady Tigers.

TSU will head to Southern Illinois on Nov.16 before the home opener against Cumberland on Thursday, Nov.18.in the Gentry Center. The Lady Tigers will host Jackson State on Nov. 20 before returning to the road at Arkansas on Nov.23.
