Lady Tigers close 2010 at Georgia Tech

GAMEDAY
Following a brief break for the holiday, Tennessee State will close out the year 2010 with a road contest at ACC opponent Georgia Tech on Dec. 30. The Lady Tigers are coming off an OVC win over Eastern Kentucky.

LADY TIGER REVIEW
The Lady Tigers snapped a five-game losing skid after defeating Eastern Kentucky, 62-52, in the Gentry Center.

Freshman Tayla Foster came off the bench to post 16 points and six rebounds in just 14 minutes of play while sophomore Simone Hopes grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds for TSU.  Senior Meredith Stafford finished the game with 10 points and six boards.

TSU BY THE NUMBERS
Tennessee State is averaging 58.3 points per game while allowing opponents to score an average of 64.3 ppg. TSU is shooting 36.6 percent from the field, including 30.5 percent from three-point range. The Lady Tigers are shooting an impressive 74 percent from the free-throw line and average 19.3 turnovers, 13.3 assists, 7.7 steals and 2.3 blocks per outing.

LADY TIGER LEADERS
Meredith Stafford (11.8 ppg) is the team's leading scorer while Simone Hopes (6.0 rpg) leads the team in rebounding. Tayla Foster (8.5 ppg) and Simone Hopes (7.2 ppg) round out the top scorers for the Lady Tigers and Alana Morris pulls down nearly five (4.8) rebounds per game.

ABOUT THURSDAY'S OPPONENT:  GEORGIA TECH
Georgia Tech(10-4) has won seven straight contests including its most recent 101-44 rout over Mercer Tuesday night. GT is led is scoring and rebounding by Alex Montgomery with 14.7 ppg and 8.4 rpg. Tyaunna Marshall is also averaging double-figures with 12.9 points per outing.

Georgia Tech is averaging 65.4 points per game while shooting .443 percent from the field.

SERIES INFORMATION
Tennessee State and Georgia Tech will meet for only the second time in the series history. GT claimed the only meeting between the two teams over twenty years ago with a 93-61 victory over TSU (11/24/89).
