After officially opening the season last Friday, the Tennessee State University women's basketball team will return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 16 with a contest at Southern Illinois. Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m. in Carbondale, Ill. at SIU Arena.

The Lady Tigers suffered an 82-55 loss to SEC member Alabama in the season opener on Friday. Freshman Tayla Foster recorded a team-best 13 points to go with six rebounds in her collegiate debut. Jasmin Shuler scored 12 points while Meredith Stafford added 10.
The offense struggled in the game and the Lady Tigers were plagued with turnovers (36). As a team, TSU shot 40.4 percent from the field but gave up 38 points off of turnovers.
Southern Illinois (0-1) dropped its season opener, 62-50, to UT Martin Friday night in Carbondale. Teri Oliver led the Salukis with 17 points while Katrina Swingler added 14 points and 10 rebounds. SIU only managed a 29.9 field goal percentage, including 16.0 percent from three-point range (4-of-25).
Tuesday will mark only the third meeting between Tennessee State and Southern Illinois with the Salukis holding a 2-0 advantage. SIU claimed the last meeting, 72-62, on December 4, 2002.
The Lady Tigers will host Cumberland in the season opener on Thursday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. before facing Jackson State on Saturday, Nov. 20 at 3 p.m. in the Gentry Center.
