Lady Tiger basketball: Blue & White scrimmage recap
Monday, November 1, 2010

Nashville --- It took overtime to decide the winner in women's basketball's Blue and White scrimmage Sunday afternoon in the Gentry Center.

The score was tied at the end of the 20-minute scrimmage but the White team was able to capture and keep the lead in the two-minute overtime.

"The blue & white scrimmage is an opportunity for our team to showcase our talents and get the crowd excited about the season," said head coach Tracee Wells.  "I thought we put on a competitive scrimmage overall.  As a coach, I see plenty to work on over the next eight days before our first exhibition game but that's why we play this game: for preparation."

Senior Meredith Stafford and sophomore Destiney Gaston led the White team with eight points each while Alana Morris pulled down a game-high seven rebounds.

Sophomore Jasmin Shuler paced the Blue team with eight points while Avery Jones and Tayla Foster pulled down four boards apiece.

"We will tighten up our loose ends and hopefully look a lot sharper on the offensive end and pick up the pressure defensively.  But for a young team overall, not bad for a first look with the lights on and the fans in the building.  It was great to get a sneak peak with such good fan support.  We look forward to seeing a great crowd again for the Bluefield game!"

The Lady Tigers will host Bluefield College on Nov.9 in an exhibition game before officially kicking off the season at Alabama on Nov.12.
