OVC action continues for WBB at Morehead State

GAMEDAY

Following a three-game homestand, the Tennessee University women's basketball team will return to the road to face OVC opponent and second place Morehead State on Thursday, Jan. 27. Game time is slated for a 5:15 p.m. start at Johnson Arena.

LADY TIGER REVIEW

Tennessee State has now dropped five consecutive games and is most recently coming off a, 69-55, home loss to Tennessee Tech.

TSU has sank to 2-7 in the league after going 0-3 in its most recent homestand. The Lady Tigers dropped contests to Austin Peay, Jacksonville State and Tennessee Tech.

Freshman Tayla Foster led the team in scoring last week. Averaging 17.0 ppg through both games. She shot nearly 60 percent from the field during the week and turned in a career-best 22 points vs. Jacksonville State.

TSU BY THE NUMBERS

Tennessee State is averaging 56.4 points per game while shooting 35.5 percent from the field, including 29.4 percent from three-point range. TSU is averaging 36.4 rebounds and 20.5 assists per game. The Lady Tigers turn in 11.3 assists, 7.4 steals, and 2.2 blocks per outing.

ABOUT MOREHEAD STATE (14-6, 7-2 OVC)

Morehead State has won three of its last four and six of its last eight contests. The Eagles are most recently coming off a 69-56 win over Eastern Kentucky.

Chynna Bozeman is the team's leading scorer with 18.2 ppg while Ashar Harris averages a double-double of 14.3 ppg and 11.8 rpg. Courtney Lump- kin turns in 13.3 points per outing. Linda Dixon is averaging 9.6 ppg (13.4 ppg in OVC games only).

Overall MSU averages 68.8 points per game while shooting 37.8 per- cent from the field and 27.6 percent from three-point range. The Eagles are only shooting 68.2 percent from the free-throw line.

SERIES INFORMATION

Tennessee State and Morehead State will meet for the 46th time in the series history. Morehead State holds a 29-16 series advantage and has won four straight over Tennessee State. Earlier this season, MSU came from be- hind to steal a , 62-58, win over TSU in the Gentry Center.

LADY TIGER LEADERS

Lone senior Meredith Stafford is the only Lady Tiger averaging double-digits with 11.1 ppg. Freshman Tayla Foster (9.6 ppg) is the team's second leading scorer while Alana Mor- ris (5.2 rpg) and Simone Hopes (5.2 rpg) lead the team in rebounding.
