WBB looks to snap skid against EKU

The Lady Tiger basketball team will look to snap a five-game losing skid on Tuesday when they host the Colonels of Eastern Kentucky at 5:30 p.m. in the Gentry Center.

LADY TIGER REVIEW
Tennessee State has dropped five straight contests, including a tough 62-58 loss to Morehead State on Sunday afternoon.

The Lady Tigers saw a nine-point lead disappear as the Eagles battled back to steal the win.

Meredith Stafford led TSU with 19 points while Destiney Gaston (14) and Simone Hopes (11) also posted double-digits.  

TSU BY THE NUMBERS
Tennessee State is averaging 58.0 points per game while shooting 36.9 percent from the field. TSU is knocking down 31.9 percent of three-pointers and averaging 35.4 rebounds per game. The Lady Tigers average 19.3 turnovers and are shooting 73.1 percent from the charity stripe. TSU averages 11.2 steals, 7.8 steals, and 2.5 blocks per game.

LADY TIGER LEADERS
Meredith Stafford (12.0 ppg) is the team's leading scorer while Simone Hopes (5.5 rpg) leads the team in rebounding. Tayla Foster (7.8 rpg) and Simone Hopes (7.1 rpg) round out the top scorers for the Lady Tigers and Alana Morris pulls down 5.2 rebounds per game.

ABOUT SATURDAY'S OPPONENT:  EASTERN KENTUCKY
The Colonels of Eastern Kentucky have dropped three of their last four contests and are coming off a 70-60 loss to Austin Peay on Sunday. EKU has an overall record of 4-6 with a 1-2 conference mark. The Colonels defeated Murray State and fell to UT Martin.

EKU has three players averaging double-digits led by  Alex Jones (15.1 ppg). Brittany Coles (12.0 ppg) and Marie Carpenter (11.4 ppg) round out EKU's top scorers.

SERIES INFORMATION
Tennessee State and Eastern Kentucky will meet for 47th time in the long series history. The Colonels hold a 32-14 lead over the Lady Tigers. Last season the teams split the series with each team winning on their home court. EKU claimed the first meeting of the season with a 64-56 win before TSU defeated the Colonels 61-54 in the Gentry Center.

WHAT HAPPENED LAST TIME AGAINST EASTERN KENTUCKY (1/30/10)
TSU fought off an Eastern Kentucky comeback in a 61-54 win over the Lady Colonels. TSU led by as many as 12 points in the second half before EKU rallied to take the lead just before the final media timeout. The Lady Tigers, however, reclaimed the advantage with about three minutes left and held on to it for the rest of the game.
