Okafor Named OVC Player of the Week

Nashville --- Tennessee State University women's basketball senior Obiageli Okafor was named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week on Monday, Nov.30.

Okafor, a 5-9 forward, helped TSU go undefeated last week nearly averaging a double-double with 21.5 points and 9.5 rebounds. She recorded her second double-double of the season and 26th of her career with 17 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Cumberland. In TSU's overtime win against Lipscomb, she posted a game-high 26 points on 8-of-8 shooting in addition to nine rebounds.

A native of Rolla, Mo., Okafor is the Lady Tigers' leading scorer and rebounder with16.2 ppg and 6.8 rpg. She is ranked second in the OVC in scoring and offensive rebounding.

Tennessee State returns to action on Thursday against Eastern Illinois at 5:30 p.m. in the Gentry Center.
