WBB heads to Midwest for match-up with SEMO

Nashville --- After a three-game homestand the Lady Tigers will hit the road to conclude the 2009-10 regular season with contests at Southeast Missouri on Thursday and Eastern Illinois on Saturday.  

Following two crucial losses in the Gentry Center, TSU has slipped into eighth place in the conference standings.

TSU is coming off of a 67-65 loss to Jacksonville State in the final home game of the season. Meredith Stafford led four double-digit scorers with 16 points while grabbing nine rebounds. Nikki Rumph added 12 while Oby Okafor also just missed a double-double with 11 points and nine boards. Simone Hopes chipped in 10.

TSU is shooting 35.9 percent from the field while turning in 62.2 points a game. The Lady Tigers average 41.0 rebounds, 18.1 turnovers, 12.0 assists, 8.2 steals and 2.0 blocks per contest.

Oby Okafor is the team's leading scorer and rebounder with 14.6 ppg and 7.6 rpg. Meredith Stafford just recently started averaging double-digits with 10.0 ppg. She has posted double-figures in the last seven games, averaging 19.3 ppg over that time frame.

Southeast Missouri (7-19, 4-12 OVC) has struggled this season. The Redhawks have lost seven straight contests, including four consecutive at home.

SEMO's most recent defeat was a 65-43 loss to UT Martin on the road. Bailie Roberts led the Redhawks with 16 points while Shelah Fields added 13.

Jasmine Davis is the only player on the team averaging double-digits in scoring with 10.0 points per game.  Leslie Adams pulls down a team best 5.6 rebounds per outing.

Overall, Southeast Missouri is averaging 52.8 points a game while shooting 33.8 percent from the field. The Redhawks are shooting 27.5 percent from beyond the arc and 68.9 percent from the free-throw line.

Tennessee State and Southeast Missouri will meet for the 39th time in the all-time series. SEMO leads the series, 22-16, but TSU has won four straight, including a 54-50 win in the Gentry Center earlier this season.
