Tennessee State (2-4, 0-1) dropped a 70-57 decision to Eastern Illinois in the OVC opener on Thursday, snapping a two-game winning streak. The Lady Tiger offense struggled as they only managed to shoot 27 percent from the field. Jasmine Smith led TSU with 13 points and eight rebounds while Oby Okafor added 11 points and also pulled down eight rebounds. Okafor, the only player averaging double figures, leads TSU with 15.3 ppg and 7.0 rpg.
Southeast Missouri (2-4, 0-1 OVC) is coming off of a 76-63 loss to Austin Peay on Thursday night in its OVC opener. Lauren Sharpe tallied 16 while Bailie Roberts scored 11 points in the contest. The Redhawks have dropped four straight contests and average 54.3 points per game. Lauren Sharpe and Jasmine Davis are the team's leading scorers with 9.8 points a game. Lesley Adams pulls down a team best 5.8 rebounds per outing.
Tennessee State and Southeast Missouri will meet for the 36th time with SEMO holding a 22-15 series lead. Last season, Tennessee State swept the season series including a 77-66 OVC tournament first round win. SEMO's last victory over TSU was a 70-51 win on Jan.17, 2008.
Saturday night will conclude TSU's four-game home stand. Game time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in the Gentry Center.
