Eastern Kentucky up next for WBB

Nashville --- Because of the weather conditions in the surrounding area, the Tennessee State University women's basketball game versus Eastern Kentucky was moved Sunday, Jan.31 at 3 p.m. in the Gentry Center.

The Lady Tigers are coming off of a 76-65 loss to Morehead State on Thursday night. That loss snapped the Lady Tigers' three-game home winning streak and dropped them to 4-6 in conference play.

Meredith Stafford led TSU with 22 points against MSU while Nikki Rumph and Oby Okafor added 11. Okafor also recorded a double-double with 13 points.

As a team, Tennessee State is averaging 61.5 points a game while allowing opponents to score 68.7 per outing. Oby Okafor is the team's leading scorer and rebounder with 15.1 points and 8.0 rebounds per contest. TSU has a record of 6-3 at home this season.

Eastern Kentucky (9-11, 5-5 OVC) has lost two straight and is coming off of a 68-57 loss to Austin Peay on Thursday night.

As a team, the Colonels are shooting 39.8 percent from the field while posting an average of 55.5 points a game. EKU is shooting 27.4 percent from three-point range and 65.4 percent from the charity stripe.  

The Colonels average 37.7 rebounds, 23.2 turnovers, 11.1 assists and 7.9 steals per game. Alex Jones (11.1 ppg) is the teams leading scorer and rebounder (8.1 rpg).

The Colonels started out an undefeated 5-0 in the OVC but since then, they have dropped five straight league contests.

Tennessee State and Eastern Kentucky will meet for the 46th time in the all-time series. The Colonels hold a 32-13 series lead. Earlier this season, EKU picked up a 64-56 win over TSU in McBrayer Arena.
