Nelson Returns to Tennessee State

Nashville, Tenn. --- Tennessee State University alum Dominique Nelson will return to his alma mater to serve as a graduate assistant coach for the women’s basketball team.

As an undergrad, Nelson, worked with the women’s basketball program for two years as a team manager.

Nelson, a native of Chicago Heights, Ill., graduated from Tennessee State with a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2007.

Upon graduation Nelson joined the staff at Thornridge High School in Dolton, Ill. as the assistant varsity coach for the girl’s basketball team. He later moved into the position of head coach for the sophomore girl’s basketball squad.

In the summer of 2008, Nelson served as a basketball operations intern with the WNBA’s Chicago Sky. As an operations intern, Nelson was responsible for game day operational needs concerning the opposing team. He also assisted the coaches with on-court drills and daily practice functions.
