Kendra Appling paced the Lady Tigers (13-11, 9-4 OVC) with 23 points. Charisse Hicks tallied 15 points while Tiffany Jackson added 13. Meredith Stafford recorded a career-high 10 points and LaDona Pierce dished out a game-best nine assists.
The Skyhawks (2-20, 0-11 OVC) were led by Phyllisha Mitchell’s 22 points and nine rebounds. Samantha Harper added 11.
After a closely played contest in the opening six minutes of the game,
The Lady Tigers then outscored the Skyhawks 17-7 in the final five minutes of the half to carry a 39-19 advantage into the break.
TSU forced UTM into 17 first half turnovers and held the Skyhawks to only 8-of-24 from the field. The Lady Tigers shot a blistering 66.7 percent from the field in the first period.
The second half began with UTM’s Allison Wright nailing a three-pointer but Kendra Appling answered right back with a triple from the corner and TSU never looked back.
The Lady Tigers led by as many as 41-points before capturing the 89-53 win.
TSU had 13 turnovers in the game while UTM finished with 25.
