Nashville --- The Tennessee State University women’s basketball team returns to action on Thursday with a match-up against Jacksonville State University. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m. in the Gentry Center.

Tennessee State is coming off a 56-52 win over Austin Peay on Saturday in the Gentry Center. That victory moved the Lady Tigers to 5-2 in the OVC and 6-0 at home.

With Thursday night’s competition, TSU is looking to remain undefeated at home and claim its third consecutive win.

Tennessee State and Jacksonville State will be meeting for only the 14th time with the Gamecocks holding an 8-5 lead. Last season TSU and JSU split the series with each team winning at home. JSU picked up a 77-70 win at Pete Matthews Coliseum before TSU claimed a 91-77 victory behind a 50-point performance from Kendra Appling in the Gentry Center.

Appling’s NCAA record-setting performance overshadowed a 30-point showing from JSU’s Jolie Efezokhae.

Last Saturday, the Gamecocks picked up their first OVC win with a 55-49 victory over UT-Martin. JSU’s win over UTM snapped a six-game losing streak and a nine-game OVC losing skid.

JSU (4-13, 1-6 OVC) is led in scoring and rebounding by Jolie Efezokhae with 14.4 ppg and 7.6 rpg.

TSU (9-9, 5-2 OVC) has three players averaging double-digits in scoring led by Kendra Appling (17.8 ppg). Tiffany Jackson (15.9 ppg) and Jasmine Smith (10.4 ppg) are also posting double-digits. Smith pulls down a team best 7.9 boards per game.
