Nashville --- The Tennessee State University women’s basketball team will return to action on Saturday when they host visiting Austin Peay in the Gentry Center at 5:30 p.m.

TSU hits the hardwood for the first time in a week with Saturday night’s match-up. The Lady Tigers are coming off of a 61-54 road victory over UT-martin last week and are looking to extend their home winning streak to six games.

In a tight OVC race, TSU (8-9, 4-2 OVC) and APSU (8-9, 4-2 OVC) are currently involved in a two-way tie for fourth place.

Tennessee State is led in scoring by Kendra Appling’s 18.2 points and 2.4 steals per game. Tiffany Jackson averages 15.9 points and 6.2 boards for the Lady Tigers while Jasmine Smith tallies 10.7 ppg and a team best 7.8 caroms per contest.

The Lady Govs have three players averaging double-digits led by Ashley Herring (1.5 ppg) and Nicole Jamen (11.5 ppg). April Thomas is averaging 11.1 points and 8.2 rebounds for Austin Peay.

This will be the 50th meeting between the two teams with Austin Peay holding a 29-20 advantage. Last season, TSU swept the series picking up a 74-72 win at the Dunn Center before claiming a 70-69 victory in the Gentry Center.

The game can be seen on and can be heard on the campus radio station WTST.

Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in the Gentry Center.
