NASHVILLE---The Tennessee State University women's basketball team hit the hardwood for the first time this season in the annual blue and white scrimmage Saturday night in the Gentry Center. The white team which consisted of LaDona Pierce, Kendra Appling, Jheri Booker, Oby Okafor, and Jaqueline Oliviera outlasted the blue team to win 37-33. The blue team consisted of Tiffany Jackson, Jamika Banks, Chelsea Cromartie, Nikki Rumph, and Taviunna Mayberry. The white team seemed to be in control for the majority of the game but a late surge by the blue team in the second half saw the blue team cut the lead to two (35-33) with five seconds left in the game. Freshman LaDona Pierce nailed two crucial free-throws to seal the game for the white team. Freshman Jheri Booker led all scores with 17 points and five steals. Sophomore Oby Okafor chipped in 10 points. Tiffany Jackson led the offense for the blue team with eight points and four steals.
