LADY TIGERS DROP FINAL ROAD GAME OF THE SEASON TO MURRAY
MURRAY, Kentucky---Four Lady Tigers scored in double figures but it wasn't enough as the Tennessee State University women's basketball team fell to host Murray State, 81-60, Thursday night in the Regional Special Events Center. With the loss the Lady Tigers fall to 7-20 (4-14 OVC) while Murray improves to 17-7 (13-4 OVC). After trailing 47-30 at the half-time break, Tennessee State played Murray just about even in the second half, only being outscored by four points (34-30). Tennessee State only committed seven second half turnovers and forced the Lady Racers to 14 second half errors but the Lady Tigers could not overcome the 17-point deficit. Jheri Booker and Tiffany Jackson paced the Lady Tigers with 15 points. Booker nearly recorded a double-double with a game-high nine rebounds. Nikki Rumph posted 11 points for TSU while Kendra Appling added 10. LaDona Pierce dished out a career-high 10 assists. Murray State shot 64.3% from the field in the first half and shot 59.6 for the game. Joi Scott led the Lady Racers with 23 points. The Lady Tigers will next return to their home court for contests against Morehead State (Feb.22) and Eastern Kentucky (Feb.24).
