JHERI BOOKER NAMED THE OHIO VALLEY CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

BRENTWOOD, Tennessee---Freshman Forward Jheri Booker was named the Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week for her performance in league play last week. This honor marks the first time this season that a Lady Tiger has received the award. Jheri Booker, a 6-0 native of Summerville, Georgia, didn't have a dominating offensive performance last week but her defensive effort helped push TSU to the 57-50 victory over Tennessee-Tech. She collected a career-best nine steals in addition to two blocks, two assists, four points, and five rebounds against the Golden Eagles. In last Thursday's game at Eastern Kentucky, Jheri tallied double-digits in scoring for the sixth time this season with 10 points and three steals. Booker is currently ranked in the Top 10 in five OVC Categories. She ranks second in steals (2.30 spg) and tenth in blocked shots (0.70 bpg). She is also ranked number six in offensive rebounding with 2.60 boards per contest. She holds down the number nine spots in overall (6.5 rpg) and defensive rebounding (3.90 rpg).
