RICHMOND, Kentucky---The Tennessee State University women's basketball team committed a season-high 32 turnovers and grabbed a season-low 27 rebounds as EKU defeated the Lady Tigers 88-49 Thursday night in McBrayer Arena. Oby Okafor led Tennessee State (4-15, 1-9 OVC) in scoring with 13 points while Jheri Booker added 10 points for the Lady Tigers. Eastern Kentucky (8-12, 5-6 OVC) was led in scoring by Andrea Jenkins with 16 points. Crystal Jones (14), Ashley Cazee (12) and Jayme Thiem (10) also scored in double figures for EKU. The Lady Tigers struggled to find their offensive rhythm in the first half of the game falling behind 21-6 at the 9:24 mark. TSU would manage to cut the deficit to 12 points (21-9) with 7:43 left to play in the half but EKU finished out the half on a 22-10 run to go into the break leading 43-19. Tennessee State began the second half more active offensively, scoring 30 second half points but the deficit proved to be too much. Eastern Kentucky shot a blistering 60.0% from the field and converted 34 points off of turnovers in route to the win. The Lady Tigers will return to action this Saturday (Jan. 27) to host Tennessee-Tech University in the Gentry Center. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
