LADY TIGERS LATE FIRST HALF SCORELESSDROUGHT KEYS DEFEAT AT MOREHEAD STATE

MOREHEAD, Ky. --- Tennessee State saw host Morehead State erase a four-point deficit late in the first half to make a 14-0 run to gain control of the contest on the way to claiming a 70-58 Ohio Valley Conference women's victory over the Lady Tigers Thursday night. The Lady Tigers were leading 22-18 following a Kendra Appling layup with 6:33 remaining, but the Lady Eagles reeled off 14 unanswered points to build a 30-22 advantage. TSU broke the scoring drought with a pair of free throws by Obiageli Okafor with 1:42 left. Okafor later added a field goal as Morehead State carried a 32-26 lead into halftime. In the second, TSU stayed within striking distance until the Lady Tigers were unable to convert down the stretch as Morehead State expanded the lead to double digits. Leslie Dean and Okafor each scored 17 points to lead TSU. Morehead State was led by Jesse Plante's 19 points. LaKrisha Brown had 13 rebounds as MSU held a 48-34 advantage on the boards.
