NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State hung around for most of the first half, but visiting Austin Peay was able to open a lead down the stretch and then pulled away in the second half for an 80-55 victory Monday night. The Lady Tigers were down 24-21 near the 8-minute mark of the first half, but Austin Peay went on a 12-3 run the rest of the way to carry a 36-27 lead into halftime. In the second half, Austin Peay shot 70 percent from the field (14-20). APSU quickly opened a double digit lead and had expanded the lead to 20 points (55-35) following an Ashley Haynes layup at the 13:12 mark. Austin Peay would lead by as least 20 points or more after the nine-minute mark. Haynes led the Lady Govs with a double-double (19 points, 10 rebounds). The Lady Govs got 10 points each from Kellea Reeves, Tiffany Benford, and Jennifer Pond. Freshman Obiageli Okafor had a career-high 20 points and had a team-high 10 rebounds for the Lady Tigers. Freshman Tiffany Jackson added 10 points. TSU shot 34 percent (21-62) from the field and had 25 turnovers that led to 33 Lady Govs points.
