NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State suffered through a second half scoreless streak of more than six minutes that allowed visiting Tennessee Tech to gain control on the way to a 71-58 Ohio Valley Conference women's victory Saturday night. The game was deadlocked at halftime at 33-33 after six ties. The Lady Tigers had led 26-22 before Tech rallied to tie the game heading into intermission. However, in the second half after the score was in favor of Tech 38-37, TTU went on an 11-0 run to make the score 49-37 following a layup by Emily Christian at the 12:48 mark. The Lady Tigers broke the drought after a layup by Kendra Appling at the 9:14 mark to make the score 53-41. The Lady Tigers were able to pull within five points, but Tech closed the game with a 9-2 run to account for the final margin. Emily Christian led the Golden Eagelettes with a double-double, finishing with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Kendall Cavin added 14 points for Tech. Freshman Obiageli Okafor led the Lady Tigers with 13 points. Another freshman, Kendra Appling added 12 points and tied classmate Kendra Appling for a team-high eight rebounds.
