LADY TIGERS SHOOT FOR WIN, BUT COME UP SHORT
MARTIN, Tenn. --- Tennessee State had four chances to shoot for the win in the final 26 seconds, but host Tennessee-Martin was able to hold back the Lady Tigers for a 51-48 victory. Trailing 49-48 after a 3-point field goal by TSU senior guard Quanecia Fletcher at the 1:08 mark, the Lady Tigers forced a stop and had the chances to move into the lead but could not convert. UT Martin was finally able to run down a rebound and UTM's Deina Willingham sank a pair of free throws with a second remaining to seal the win. The Lady Tigers had fought back from a 13-point deficit in the second half to be in position for the win. TSU Held UTM to just six second-half field goals. Leslie Dean led the Lady Tigers with 13 points. Freshman Obiageli Okafor had eight rebounds. Willingham had a game high 20 points and was the only Skyhawk player in double figures.
