LADY TIGERS SUFFER THROUGH SHOOTING WOES AGAINST JSU
NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State women's basketball team shot 27 percent from the field while visiting Jacksonville State shot 52 percent on the way to handing TSU an 82-47 setback in Ohio Valley Conference women's basketball play Monday night. The Lady Tigers trailed 39-23 and scored added just 24 points in the second half while the Gamecocks were scoring 43 points. Jacksonville State shot 50 percent in the opening half and 53 percent in the final 20 minutes. JSU held a 50-39 rebounding advantage and also recorded 13 blocked shots, led by Ann-Marie Healey's seven. Rebecca Haynes came off the bench to lead JSU with 23 points and posted 12 rebounds, all on the defensive end. Healey had 12 points. Leslie Dean was the only Lady Tiger in double digits, scoring 20 points for the second consecutive game. The Lady Tigers also had a bad night at the free throw line, making just 8-of-22 attempts. TSU hosts Samford Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the Gentry Center.
