LADY TIGERS BID FOR VICTORY SPOILED BY EIU COMEBACK
NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State stayed within striking distance until visiting Eastern Illinois was able to pull away down the stretch to defeat the Lady Tigers 77-62 in Ohio Valley Conference women's play Saturday night. The Lady Tigers led much of the first half before trailing 34-30 at halftime. TSU was down 44-40 near the 12-minute mark. EIU went on a 13-4 run to build the margin to 57-43 with almost eight minutes remaining in the game. The loss spoiled a career night by senior forward Leslie Dean who tallied 27 points to lead the Lady Tigers (0-16, 0-9 OVC). Dean hit 6-of-7 shots in the first half and finished 12-of-17 from the floor. Freshman Tiffany Jackson added 10 points. Megan Sparks led the Panthers with 16 points while Rachel Galligan scored 15 and had a game-high nine rebounds. Megan Edwards scored 12 points and had eight assists for EIU (8-10, 7-4).
