LADY TIGERS HAVE OPPORTUNITIES,BUT NEVER MAKE LATE SURGE AT JSU

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. --- Tennessee State had several opportunities to make a second half run, but the Lady Tigers could never sustain any consistency and dropped a 75-61 Ohio Valley Conference decision to Jacksonville State Saturday night. The Lady Tigers trailed 40-24 at halftime and whenever the Lady Tigers appeared to be climbing back into the contest, JSU answered en route to its 14-point victory. TSU falls to 0-14 and 0-7 in the OVC while the Gamecocks snapped a nine-game losing streak to improve to 3-12 and 1-7. TSU was led by freshman Tiffany Jackson with a career-high 18 points. Leslie Dean had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds while Obiageli Okafor just missed a double-double with 10 points and nine boards. The Lady Tigers shot 30 percent (21-of-71) from the field. TSU had a 57-48 rebounding deficit. JSU was led by freshman Ashley Boykin who scored a career-high 25 points.
