CHARLESTON, Ill. --- Tennessee State ran up against a hot-shooting Eastern Illinois Panther women's basketball team, falling in a 106-68 decision Saturday night in an Ohio Valley Conference contest. The Lady Tigers saw host EIU post a 17-0 run in the first half to break away from a 13-13 tie to gain control of the game. EIU shot 65 percent from the floor (34-of-52), including 59 percent (10-of-17) from 3-point range on the way to posting the victory. EIU also shot 85 percent (28-of-33) from the free throw line. Tennessee State placed four players in double figures. Freshman Tiffany Jackson led the team with 16 points. Leslie Dean and Obiageli Okafor scored 15 and 12 points each. Quanecia Fletcher added 10 points in her third game back coming off a hip injury. The Lady Tigers shot 37 percent from the field (22-of-60) and faced a 37-27 rebounding deficit. TSU will have a week off from game action before playing at Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Dec. 17.
