LADY TIGERS FALL TO MARSHALL IN OPENING ROUND OF TOURNAMENT

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.--- The Tennessee State University Lady Tiger basketball team fell to Marshall 81-57 Friday night in the opening round of the Fifth Third Marshall Classic. Tennessee State played well in the first half, shooting 39 percent from the floor and 43 percent from 3-point range. TSU went into half time trailing by just five points (35-30). Marshall went on a 9-0 run to open the second half. A Leslie Dean jumper stopped the run but the Thundering Herd went on pull away from the Lady Tigers. TSU only managed to score 27 points in the second half while Marshall tallied 46. Leslie Dean led all scores with a game-high 18 points and eight rebounds. Oby Okafor added 14 points and pulled down eight rebounds for the Lady Tigers in her first collegiate game. The Lady Tigers will face the Ohio Bobcats in the consolation game Saturday at 11 a.m.
