LADY TIGERS GRAB WIN IN FINAL SECONDS
NASHVILLE --- LaKisha Clay hit a short jumper in the lane with 3.5 seconds remaining to lift the Tennessee State Lady Tigers to a 58-56 Ohio Valley Conference victory over Eastern Illinois Saturday night. Clay had hit just 2-of-16 shots prior to converting the game-winner. TSU had gained possession following a EIU turnover with 20 seconds remaining. Clay drove down the middle of the lane and connected on the 10-footer to move TSU to 5-10 overall and 2-2 in the OVC. Kendra Bailey led TSU with 17 points and 15 rebounds. LaReae Starr came off the bench to match her season high of 10 points. The game featured nine ties and seven lead changes. TSU trailed 56-52 with 1:28 left and tied the game on back-to-back layups from Kendra Bailey and Leslie Dean. Eastern Illinois (7-8, 0-4) was led by Megan Sparks who scored 21 points. Pam O'Connor added 11. TSU plays at Tennessee-Martin Thursday night.
