LADY TIGERS RETURN TO ACTION AGAINST WINTHROP
NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State women's basketball team returns to the court to host Winthrop University Tuesday (Dec. 21) at 7 p.m. in the Gentry Center. The game will be TSU's first since Dec. 7. TSU is 3-4 overall, already surpassing its one-win total from last season. Winthrop, which dropped a 73-54 at preseason Ohio Valley Conference Tennessee Tech, is 1-8 on the season. The Lady Tigers will look to reverse their field goal shooting fortunes coming out of the break. TSU shot just 23 percent from the floor. TSU leads the OVC in steals, averaging 14.9 per game. The Lady Tigers have three players ranked in the top five in the department. Quanecia Fletcher leads at 3.14 per game. LaKisha Clay is third at 2.86 while LaToya Clay is fourth at 2.67. LaKisha Clay is tied for eight in scoring at 12.8 ppg. Kendra Bailey is fourth in rebounding at 7.3. The game will be TSU's final contest until the Lady Tigers participate in the UAB Tournament Dec. 29-30. Winthrop is a member of the Big South Conference. The Lady Eagles have played in a trio of road tournaments during their preseason slate.
