TSU WOMEN SUFFER SLOW START IN FIRST ROUNDLOSS AT KANSAS STATE TOURNAMENT
MANHATTAN, Kansas --- Tennessee State saw Liberty University open the game with a 12-0 run and the Flames never looked back in handing the Lady Tigers a 74-38 defeat in the opening round game of the Kansas State Commerce Bank Tournament on Friday. The Lady Tigers suffered through 3-of-33 field goal shooting in the first half. Liberty, which has won its conference and advanced to the NCAA Tournament seven straight years, led 40-10 at halftime. Liberty outscored TSU 34-28 in the final half. TSU finished the game shooting 20 percent (13-66) for the game. The much-larger Flames held a commanding 60-36 rebounding advantage. Freshman Madison Adams was a bright spot for the Lady Tigers. Adams scored 20 points to lead TSU. Madison made five 3-pointers in the contest. Katie Feenstra led the Flames with 17 points and 13 rebounds. TSU will face the loser of the New Hampshire and nationally-ranked Kansas State game at 1 p.m. in Saturday's consolation contest.
