TRACEE JONES NAMED TENNESSEE STATE UNIVERSITYINTERIM HEAD WOMEN'S BASKETBALL COACH
NASHVILLE --- Tracee Jones has been named interim head women's basketball coach at Tennessee State University, TSU director of athletics Teresa Phillips announced officially on Friday. Jones, who returned to her alma mater in 2002 as an assistant coach, will serve as the coach for the 2004-05 season. Jones replaces Sharon Allen who was dismissed from the head coaching position on Thursday (June 17) after one season at Tennessee State. "I feel this decision is in the best interest of our women's basketball program," said Phillips. "We wish Coach Allen the best in her future endeavors." Jones played basketball at Tennessee State from 1994-98 and was a member of the school's second Ohio Valley Conference championship team in 1995. She has also served as an assistant coach at Chicago State and Wright State before returning to TSU. Phillips said a search for a permanent head coach will begin early next year.
