LaToya Clay of the TSU women's basketball team was selected to the University of Memphis Thanksgiving Classic all-tournament team.The tournament was held on the campus of U of M in the Elma Roane Fieldhouse over Thanksgiving weekend. The TSU squad faced host University of Memphis in the first round of the tournament and dropped the contest 92-71. In the game, Clay played 28 minutes, contributing 16 points and six rebounds in the effort. The Lady Tigers defeated Mercer in the consolation game 79-65. Clay tallied 17 points, six rebounds, and a 75% free throw percentage. Clay is a junior psychology major from Detroit, Michigan. Other honorees included Liz Shimek and Lindsay Bowen from Michigan State and Raven Rogers and Shannon Hamp from Memphis. Hamp was selected as the tournament MVP for the second consecutive year. Memphis defeated Michigan State for the championship, 59-56 and claimed the title for the 11th consecutive year. TSU will host Southern Illinois on Wednesday. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
