MATCH INFORMATION: The Tennessee State volleyball team will open its season with the War Eagle Invitaitonal hosted by Auburn University Aug. 30-31. Over the course of the weekend, the Tigers will compete against Auburn, Butler and New Mexico State.

TSU UPDATE: In Big Blue's exhibition match Aug. 20, TSU swept North Alabama 3-0 (25-18, 27-25, 25-18). Aria Holmes lead the team offensivley with nine kills. Khalia Jordan racked up some points for the Tigers serving four aces.  

ABOUT AUBURN: The Tigers will take on the Tigers in its annual home tournament. The last time TSU played Auburn, was 2007, TSU’s OVC Championship season. The Tigers went 1-3 in the War Eagle Invitational that year, as senior middle blocker Endia Oliver was named to the All-Tournament team after tallying 30 blocks over three matches and a double-double versus Nicholls State.

ABOUT BUTLER: TSU kicks off tournament season at Auburn to take on the Butler Bulldogs for the first time since 2016. In the teams’ first meeting in Indianapolis, Butler took down the Tigers in its home tournament holding TSU’s offensive leader Chloe Watson to 12 kills, and libero Cherlie Adorno-DeJesus to 10 total digs. Last season was the first time in three seasons the Bulldogs did not make it to the postseason Big East tournament after finishing the season 9-21, 6-12 in the league. 

ABOUT NEW MEXICO STATE: The Aggies are coming off of their fourth WAC championship in seven years and lost only four members of the championship team – three hitters and one defensive specialist. It’ll also be the first meeting between TSU and New Mexico State.

UP NEXT: TSU will host Chattanooga in Kean Hall Sept. 3 at 6 p.m.
