Volleyball Announces 2019 Schedule

2019 SCHEDULE | ADD 2019 SCHEDULE TO CALENDAR

NASHVILLE --- Head Coach Donika Sutton announced the 2019 Tennessee State volleyball schedule on Thursday. This year’s schedule includes non-conference tests in tournaments hosted by Auburn, South Alabama and New Orleans, including matches against New Mexico State and Mercer, among others.

The season kicks off with a home exhibition game versus North Alabama Aug. 20 before officially beginning the season in Auburn, Alabama, Aug. 30.

The 28-match schedule features 10 home games and 18 road games with two matches against NCAA tournament teams.

The Ohio Valley Conference Volleyball Tournament is scheduled for Nov. 17-20 at the No. 1 seed.

Notes: TSU kicks off tournament season at Auburn to take on the Butler Bulldogs for the first time since 2016. In the teams’ first meeting in Indianapolis, Butler took down the Tigers in its home tournament holding TSU’s offensive leader Chloe Watson to 12 kills, and libero Cherlie Adorno-DeJesus to 10 total digs. Last season was the first time in three seasons the Bulldogs did not make it to the postseason Big East tournament after finishing the season 9-21, 6-12 in the league.

Notes: The Tigers will take on the Tigers in its annual home tournament. The last time TSU played Auburn, was 2007, TSU’s OVC Championship season. The Tigers went 1-3 in the War Eagle Invitational that year, as senior middle blocker Endia Oliver was named to the All-Tournament team after tallying 30 blocks over three matches and a double-double versus Nicholls State.
