TSU UPDATE: Tennessee State opened conference play with a 3-1 loss to EKU followed by a 3-1 win against Morehead State. The Tigers suffered a harrowing loss to the Colonels Friday night as the energy on the court was drained set-by-set. However, the following afternoon, the Tigers came back with a vengeance beating Morehead State 3-1 (25-20, 25-19, 23-25, 25-22). The match proved to be a record-breaking match for two of the Tigers. Kylie Hayes recorded her career-high in digs with 16.  Julia Pierson surpassed her season-high in kills with 21 and career-high in digs with 16. TSU is now 5-10 overall, 1-1 in OVC play.

SERIES INFORMATION: In the all-time series against Belmont, the Tigers are 10-21. In the past five seasons, the Tigers have gone 5-5.

ABOUT BELMONT: As travel partners, the Bruins also took on Morehead State and EKU in their opening weekend of conference play. Belmont defeated the Eagles (3-0) before winning a hard-fought five-set match against the Colonels (3-2). The Bruins are entering week two of conference play 7-6, and are 4-2 at home. The team has competed against four nationally ranked teams, accounting for two-thirds of its losses this season.
