MATCH INFORMATION: The Tigers volleyball team will travel to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, for the Hampton Inn Bama Bash to take on Alabama, Furman and Hofstra Sept. 8-9.

TSU UPDATE: TSU is coming off of a successful 3-0 weekend at its first home tournament in Kean Hall where the Tigers beat New Orleans, Alcorn State and FIU. Senior setter Sam Beltran was named tournament MVP after recording two double-doubles throughout the weekend doling out 124 assists, 38 digs, 19 kills and two blocks. Julia Pierson, sophomore outside hitter was also named to the All-Tournament team after recording 48 kills, five assists, two service aces, and four blocks.

SERIES INFORMATION: Tennessee State is looking to win its first match against all three team, never competing against Alabama, Furman or Hofstra before this tournament.

ABOUT ALABAMA: Alabama is 4-2 this season, and its match against TSU will serve as its home opener. In the Jaguar Invitational last weekend, the Crimson Tide went 2-1, falling to Southern Mississippi. Last season, Alabama went 12-5 at home.

ABOUT FURMAN: Furman coming off of a 2-1 weekend at the Liberty Invitational where the Paladins fell to Big Ten-foe Maryland. Paladin Jamila Johnson averaged 4.36 kills per set last weekend and will be the Furman’s offensive leader.

ABOUT HOFSTRA: Hofstra holds a 3-4 record after going 2-1 in its last tournament at George Washington. The Pride are on a two match winning streak, and look to Ivanania Ortiz and Luisa Sydik to lead them to another win in the Bama Bash.

UP NEXT: The Tigers travel to Missouri State for the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational where they will compete against Washington State, Illinois and Missouri State Sept. 15-16.
