NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State volleyball team will open up its spring competition on Wednesday Mar. 22, in Kean Hall as part of the team’s non-traditional spring season.

The Tigers will face off with local universities such as Trevecca Nazerene and Cumberland in a tri-match. Each match will be an hour long.

Later on this spring, the Tigers will play in a tournament at A-Game in Franklin, Tenn. that includes 15 teams. TSU will get to see how it matches up versus teams such as Tennessee, Ole Miss, Memphis, Chattanooga, Lipscomb, Troy and others.

Newly appointed head coach Donika Sutton will get her first look at her team in a competitive match outside of practice. The Tigers return seven players including three starters highlighted by setter Samantha Beltran and the Libero Cherlie Adorno-DeJesus. The Tigers finished last season 17-16 and made the OVC tournament for the second consecutive year before losing to Austin Peay in the first round of the tournament.
