NASHVILLE, Tenn. --- Tennessee State volleyball announced the signing of two athletes for the 2017 season. Sisters Megan and Maya Evans both inked National Letters of Intent with the Tigers on Wednesday.
The sisters are both seniors at Bellaire High School in Houston, Tex. The siblings are actually triplets with their brother Max who plays basketball. Megan is a 5’11 setter that has registered 859 assists and 315 digs on the season for the Cardinals. Maya has been able to finish a lot of passes from her sister with 416 kills while hitting at a .303 clip for the season.
TSU coaching staff states, “The sisters will bring even more size to a team that is getting bigger every year. Megan coming in as a 5’11 setter will add depth to that position. She is extremely mobile and moves the ball well which will make the offense more dynamic. Maya gives us a six foot middle adding depth while giving us the ability to move our hitters around. She allows us to have an even bigger and more athletic front row.
“Megan and Maya playing together will bring established chemistry to the team,” says Tennessee State’s coaching staff. “We are very excited about the addition of the Evans sisters to our program and community. These two student-athletes possess the skill set, mindset and toughness to be a part of the Big Blue family in the 2017 season. They are going to bring a lot of talent to our team.”
The signees will enroll in the fall of 2017.
