HUNTSVILLE, Ala. --- The Tigers defeated Alabama A&M for the third time this season. TSU won by a score of 3-0.
Tennessee State would put together a total team effort to beat the Bulldogs. Chloe Watson led the team with seven kills Julia Pierson followed with five. Defensively Cherlie Adorno-DeJesus had eight digs and senior Taylor Patterson added six.
The Tigers started the match off with a 4 point lead. Tennessee State would stretch the lead to 16-9 forcing the Bulldogs to take a timeout. A kill by Watson gave TSU a 22-15 lead and A&M would take their second timeout of the set. A hitting error by Alabama A&M would be the deciding point in set one with the Tigers winning by a score of 25-16. Pierson had three kills for TSU.
Set two would start off with a kill for Payten Clark followed by a ball handling error by the Bulldogs. TSU would lead by a score of 5-3 to begin frame number two. Watson would register consecutive service aces to help the stretch the lead to 14-6. Alexis Johnson would have multiple kills in the 11 to one run. The Bulldogs would go on a 6-2 run to pull the score to 16-12 TSU. A&M would use three straight kills to pull the score within two. A service error by the Bulldogs followed by a service ace for the Tigers would push the lead back to 19-15. Tennessee State would take a 23-18 lead and Alabama A&M would burn a timeout. A kill by Katora Roberts kill would end frame number two with the Tigers winning 25-19.
Tennessee State would start the third frame off with four straight points before Alabama A&M went on a three point run of their own. The Tigers would then build an eight point lead. A&M would then use its first timeout of the set. Puamana Danielson would get two straight aces pushing the score to 16-6 Tigers. TSU would stretch the lead to 20-6 and the Bulldogs would take another timeout. The Tigers would win the game with a 25-11 win in the final frame.
