NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Head volleyball coach Kathy Bullock announced the signings of three athletes for the 2016 season. Julia Pierson, Kylie Hayes and Payten Clark will enter in the fall and look to replace outgoing seniors Haley Hampton and Madison Halterman.
Pierson is a 5-10 outside hitter from Rowlett, Texas. A four-year letterwinner for Wylie East High School, Payton has helped lead her team to the Bi-District Playoffs four years in a row. The signee earned Newcomer of the Year award her freshman season, was named 1st Team All- District as a sophomore and junior and received Academic All-District honors her junior year. Julia has served as captain of her high school and club team, Blocksport VBC, for the last three years while staying involved as a leader in her school’s mentoring programs. Pierson plans to major in Social Work and or Psychology.
Hayes, a native Tennessean, signs from Memphis, Tenn. Hayes is a 5-3 libero and four-year letterwinner for Houston High School, where she has helped lead her team to the State Tournament the past four years. Kylie earned All-Region, All-Selection and Defensive Player of the Year awards as a junior and received All-District Team and All-District Tournament Team honors her senior year. Hayes plays for the Memphis Juniors, who are ranked fourth in the state. Kylie plans to major in communications.
Clark is a 6-0 middle blocker from Baton Rouge, La. A letterwinner for Southern Lab High School, she received the Rookie of the Year Award and Most Valuable Player her sophomore year. In her senior season, Clark helped lead her team to a 31-9 record and a District Championship title while also earning 1st Team All-District Honors. Payten plans to major in Nursing.
“I’m really excited about this group of girls,” said head coach Kathy Bullock. “It’s one of the best recruiting classes we’ve had.”
All three signees will enter in the fall of 2016.
