MURRAY, Ky.- Three members of the Tennessee State volleyball team received awards at the Ohio Valley Conference Volleyball Championship banquet on Wednesday night for their notable performances this season. Freshman Zahria Graham, junior Chloe Watson and senior Madison Halterman all received awards.
Graham was named to the 2015 All-Newcomer Team, along with Watson who was also named to the All-Conference Team. Madison Halterman was also an All-Conference selection as well as being named the 2015 Defensive Player of the Year.
Graham has tallied 171 kills this season and averages 1.6 kills per set. The freshman outside hitter has been a defensive force this year, totaling 55 blocks and 123 digs.
Watson has led the Tigers offensively this season. The junior outside hitter has recorded 395 digs on the season and averages 3.95 kills per set. In conference play, Watson is ranked fourth in kills (262) and kills per set (3.85).
Senior Madison Halterman leads the Tigers and the OVC in digs this season with 546 total digs on the season and 361 (5.31 d/s) in conference play. Halterman ranks 29th in the country in digs per set and 35th in total digs. Madison is the first Tiger in history to receive the Defensive Player Award.
All three Tigers and the rest of the TSU volleyball team will take the court against Eastern Kentucky today at 4:30 p.m. in the first round of the OVC Championship Tournament. Live coverage on the game will be available via the OVC Digital Network.
