NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Volleyball junior Chloe Watson and sophomore Samantha Beltran each earned OVC weekly honors for their performances last week. Watson was selected as OVC Newcomer a Week for the fourth time this season while Beltran earned Co-Setter of the Week for the first time.
Watson totaled 23 kills to go with 23 digs over the two matches last week. She led the team in kills in both matches as she posted 10 in TSU’s 3-0 win over Belmont and 13 against Eastern Illinois. The outside hitter also registered 14 digs against EIU for her seventeenth double-double of the year.
Beltran dished out 79 assists through seven sets, recording a team-high 33 against Belmont and leading the Tigers once again with 46 versus EIU. The setter also tallied seven kills, a .333 attack percentage, four services ace and 22 digs in the two matches.
Watson and Beltran will be back in action, along with the rest of the Tiger volleyball team, on Thursday when they face Eastern Kentucky in the first round of the OVC Post-Season Tournament. First serve is set for 4:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast live on the OVC Digital Network.
