Nashville, Tenn. – Tennessee State volleyball senior, Madison Halterman was named the Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for her performance over the weekend. This is the first time since 2012 that a TSU volleyball player has received this award.
The libero recorded an impressive 30 digs in TSU’s four-set win over Georgia Southern and collected a total of 60 digs throughout the weekend, which earned her a spot on the Georgia Southern All-Tournament team.
“This is a huge honor because we have always been recognized as an offensive team in a conference that’s all about defense,” said head coach Kathy Bullock. “For us to receive Defensive Player of the Week and for it to be Madison is just an honor for the program and the team.”
Halterman has a total of 123 digs on the season and currently leads the OVC in digs per set (4.73).
“Madison told me that she wanted to be number one,” said Bullock. “She looked at the stats, set a goal for herself, and reached it. She’s very deserving of this award.”
