NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee State volleyball team completed their ninth practice of camp on Thursday in the Gentry Center.
After two weeks or preseason training camp and two-a-day practices, the Tigers are just eight days away from their season opener against Northwestern State University.
The past couple of weeks have been very beneficial for the Tigers, as they have progressed a great deal in such a short amount of time.
Coaches continue to gush over the talent of this year’s squad. Newcomers Chloe Watson, Zahria Graham and Ayanna Chase have continued to impress the coaching staff over the last two weeks.
Replacing the production of Naomi Wells and Ileanushka Maldonado was a main concern for the Tigers going into the 2015 season. However, returners Arijana Anderson and Haley Hampton have shown during camp that the duo will be a force to be reckoned with on the front line this season.
This Saturday will be the first opportunity for the Tigers to play against someone other than themselves. Two weeks of intra-squad and drills will give way the annual Alumni Game. The Tigers will use this opportunity to put together what they have done during the last two weeks of camp and practice game-like situations.
The match will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22 in the Gentry Center at 10 a.m.
