NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Less than three weeks away from their season opener against Northwestern State in Oxford, Miss., the Tennessee State University volleyball team held their first practice of the season on Tuesday in Kean Hall.
“The girls really worked hard and came in ready to compete,” said head coach Kathy Bullock. “It’s making our job easier because everyone came in knowing what to expect for preseason.”
The Tigers return eight and bring on six new players for the 2015 season.
“The returners have done a great job on getting the newcomers ready for our preseason practices,” said Bullock. “There’s going to be some serious competition over the next couple of weeks.”
Staying focused and pushing to get better one day at a time is the main goal for the Tigers this preseason.
“We’ve have a bunch of goals for the season, but mainly we’re just trying to get better every day,” said Bullock. “If we focus on getting better every day, then when it really matters we’re going to be great.”
The Tigers continue their two-a-day preseason practices for the next couple of weeks, holding team practices in the morning and individual sessions in the afternoon.
