NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After going on the road and winning this past weekend, the Tennessee State University volleyball team will host Arkansas-Pine Bluff Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. for Metro School Day at Kean Hall.
The Tigers (7-11, 2-2 Ohio Valley Conference) will play their final non-conference matchup of the season as the Lions (3-14, 2-2 SWAC) travel to Nashville. TSU is undefeated in two all-time meeting against UAPB.
The last time these two teams met, TSU won in straight sets at Kean Hall as the Lions scored 16 points in the first set, followed by two straight sets of 11 points. Just three players on this year’s Tigers squad played in that match while four players from UAPB remain on this year’s squad.
The Lions are paced on offense by Ashlie Jones. In her last four matches, Jones has put down 64 kills. She had 13 kills in UAPB’s win over Southern and 19 in the win over Mississippi Valley State. Jade Sanlin leads the Lions defense with her 60 digs over their last four matches.
UAPB is on a two-match skid, but had won the previous two matches. The Lions were predicted to finish fourth in the SWAC Western division.
Tuesday’s match will be the earliest home match of 2014 for TSU. Start time is slated for 11:00 a.m. for the Metro School Day. Local area schools are invited to come watch the Tigers take on the Lions.
